The storm took away the sunny day,
frightened the cat with thunder bolts,
shook branches in the Blue Spruce
where the song birds hid in silence.
It caused unscheduled mayhem
for picnics and travel.
It gave life to scorched earth
and was fuel for floods.
Most headed for shelter, except
lovers huddled in cars unobserved.
Later, children would splash in puddles,
Robins enjoy a feast of worms.
After the storm, the sky
turned pink, gray, and icy blue,
with gold from the sun falling
off the edge of the earth.
Beautiful pictures in words!
Beautiful – first the pain, then the joy!
Thank you for your remarks on my poem The Storm.
Nature affords us many beautiful experiences.
